Learning Experiences Overview
This module focuses on creating learning experiences that provide students with scaffolded learning. Intentional instruction using the Gradual Release of Responsibility Phases provides scaffolded learning to students:
Teacher Modeling & Thinking Aloud
Guided Instruction
Collaborative Learning
Independent Learning
These learning experiences should be based on the learning intentions and success criteria.
Planning Resources
After you have worked through the Teacher Clarity Planning document, you are ready to design your Learning Experiences for your students. Use the document on the left to help guide your lesson planning for learning experiences in the classroom based on the Teacher Clarity Playbook.
Start with your standard(s) and include your learning intentions, success criteria, talking points on relevance, and assessment opportunities from the Teacher Clarity Planning document. Then continue building your learning experience for your students with opportunities for the following:
Modeling
Guiding & Scaffolding
Collaborative Learning
Independent Learning
Model
Click on the link above to watch a video on the differences between modeling for your students and doing a think aloud. Discover how you can go deeper with a think aloud for your students to help them start thinking like expert learners.
The above links include examples of modeling using Explicit Instruction from Anita Archer. The menu to open the videos will be on the left side of the website. Choose from a variety of grade levels and subjects and see how modeling and guided instruction can help make learning clearer for your students.

Click on the link above to learn more about how you can use the features and tools in Pear Deck to scaffold your lessons and make engaging interactive activities where all students can participate.
Collaborative Learning
Click the link above to access our resource for using student dialogue as an assessment tool in the classroom. Get students discussing your content using different strategies like Think-Pair-Share and then use that as a formative assessment tool to capture student thinking. Students can discuss verbally as well as through technology like with Vocaroo, Kami, or the option below.
Click the link above to access resources from Google to support using Google Slides in the classroom. These resources include video tutorials and lesson ideas like creating interactive slideshows for your students. Google Slides are a great way to allow students to collaborate in the classroom. An example would be students each contribute to one slide and then give classmates feedback on their slides either using comments or a designated textbox.
Independent Learning
